João Daniel is currently Professor of Ruminant Nutrition at the State University of Maringa (UEM), Brazil. He received the B.S. and M.S. degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Lavras (UFLA) Brazil, and the Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. In 2012, he had the honor to receive the "Award for the Best PhD Dissertation in the Field of Animal Sciences" by the Brazilian Agency of Higher Education (CAPES Foundation). As a Post Doc in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Sao Paulo, he worked on the occurrence and fates of volatile organic compounds in silages. His current research interests are focused on the control of losses in silages, quality of forage fibre, and feeding value of whole-crop and grain silages for beef and dairy cattle. Dr. Daniel will give a presentation on the production and utilization of silages in tropical areas.
